On set, I work in German, English and Italian.

An ear shaped by music

Guitar and percussion have been part of my life since my youth, and in the mid-1990s I taught myself sound engineering. Music has stayed close to my work ever since: as an international DJ, and in more than 50 multitrack recordings of theatre productions and live concerts for CD and DVD releases.

Knowing how a film set works

My way into the film industry began at the end of the 1990s, working up from best boy to 2nd AC before joining the sound department in 2004. With allabout.ch, I also worked as fixer, location manager and transport coordinator on international productions such as Paul Thomas Anderson's Phantom Thread, Gore Verbinski's A Cure for Wellness, Susanna White's Our Kind of Traitor, Bill Condon's The Fifth Estate and Lee Jeong-hyo's Korean Netflix/tvN series Crash Landing on You, and as production assistant for clients including Omega, Bentley, the BBC, ITV and Discovery Channel.

That experience means knowing what every department on a set needs, and how to get good sound without slowing the shoot down.

At home anywhere

More than seven years in Jamaica, working in TV and video production and playing music, made me part of the island's culture. Out of that time came The Art of Making Music a Way of Life – the Inna de Yard project (2012), a film about a unique presence in Jamaica's musical landscape, which I directed, shot, recorded and edited, followed by European tours with its musicians. The love of music also led to West Africa, to two documentary reports of my own as co-producer and sound recordist: Ghana Allstars and Mali in Motion (2021), 40-minute music films made for the Afro-Pfingsten Festival in Winterthur. Assignments in New York followed the years in Jamaica.

Working across countries and cultures has made me at ease with small crews, remote locations and the unexpected.

Ticino

Home today is Verscio in the Terre di Pedemonte, a small village in the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland. From 2019 to 2023 I taught film sound at F+F Schule für Kunst und Design in Zurich. From Ticino, in the heart of Europe, productions can take me anywhere.
